CocoaPods Deprecation
CocoaPods has announced that CocoaPods Trunk will become read-only on December 2, 2026. After this date, new pods and pod versions can no longer be published. The following sections explain this change and provide guidance for migrating your apps to other dependency managers.
Overview
What's changing?
CocoaPods is transitioning to a read-only state. OneTrust iOS SDK version 202611.1.0 will be the final version published through CocoaPods.
Will apps currently using the iOS or tvOS SDK from CocoaPods stop working?
No. Current versions of the OneTrust iOS and tvOS SDK will remain available on the CocoaPods, and apps using those versions will continue to function.
What package manager is supported by OneTrust?
Swift Package Manager (SPM) is the primary package manager supported by OneTrust. Manual SDK installation is also supported. To continue receiving the latest OneTrust iOS and tvOS SDK releases, including new features, bug fixes, and enhancements, migrate to SPM or use the manual installation method.
Swift Package Manager
Swift Package Manager (SPM) is Apple’s package management tool for managing Swift dependencies. It is integrated with Xcode and enables developers to add, manage, and update third-party libraries and SDKs directly within their projects.
Migrate to Swift Package Manager
To migrate from CocoaPods to Swift Package Manager (SPM), complete the following steps:
- From your project directory, run the following command to remove the CocoaPods integration:
pod deintegrate - Delete the
.xcworkspacefile. - Open
xcodeprojfile in Xcode. - In Xcode, select File > Add Package Dependencies and add your required dependencies, including the OneTrust iOS or tvOS SDK. For repository details, see Download from Swift Package Manager.
Manual Installation
You can manually install the OneTrust iOS and tvOS SDK by downloading the zip file from your OneTrust tenant. This allows you to add the required XCFramework file directly to your Xcode project without using a dependency manager.
For instructions on downloading the OneTrust iOS and tvOS SDK zip file, see Download from OneTrust Tenant/Admin Console.
To migrate from CocoaPods to a manual installation, complete the following steps:
- From your project directory, run the following command to remove the CocoaPods integration:
pod deintegrate - Delete the
.xcworkspacefile. - Open the
.xcodeprojfile in Xcode. - Add the
XCFrameworkfile to your project - In your target's General tab, under Frameworks, Libraries, and Embedded Content, verify that:
- OTPublishersHeadlessSDK.xcframework is added.
- OTPublishersHeadlessSDK.xcframework is configured as Embed & Sign.
